STEP ONE: Search for opportunities > Fisheries / Coastal Manager

We have opportunities for fisheries and coastal resource managers, in the context of both marine life and freshwater fisheries. You can support local communities to establish their rights to fisheries and coastal resources. You can also promote the sustainable use of resources and help to create employment for disadvantaged groups through enterprise development.

You could be working in countries like the Philippines, Indonesia and Cambodia.

Necessary qualifications and experience

You'll need a relevant HND or degree in fisheries, marine biology or coastal resource management and two years related experience. Knowledge of natural resource management and community-based approaches is also required.

Types of opportunity available

If you have experience in marine resource management you could be working with coastal communities to improve catches and undertake environmental upgrading. Inland fish farmers could be working with local communities to set up fish farms. If you're a university-level marine biology teacher or a project manager you could be working with local people to prevent environmental degradation and develop sustainable ways to make a living from natural resources.
