VSO's supporter groups > Abergavenny

The group has about a dozen active members most of whom are returned volunteers. Our meetings are of a social nature but we do organise roughly three fundraising/awareness raising events a year.

Members often give talks about their experiences as volunteers and the work of VSO to local groups such as Women’s Institutes. We also have links with other local development or poverty alleviation groups such as ‘Tools For Self Reliance’ and Abergavenny Fairtrade Forum.

Abergavenny Local Group is not perhaps the most accurate name as we draw members from all parts of Monmouthshire and West Herefordshire. We welcome new members regardless of how active a role they wish to play although the more active the better. It is not necessary to have been a volunteer to join us, all that is needed is an interest in supporting the work of VSO.
